About

Our Story

Founder Rachel Wiandt dealt with itchy, dry skin that was irritated by commercial soaps. She knew there had to be something better, so she fell back on her interest in biological science and chemistry and got to work.

After realizing that most “soaps” are actually detergents with synthetic ingredients that create lather, she formulated her own cold process soap recipes. It begins with a blend of avocado, castor, coconut, olive and rice bran oils with shea and cocoa butters. Everything is measured and weighed carefully to ensure the highest quality final product.

Our recipes are our own and formulated in-house through years of trial and error.

Our Ingredients

We believe that great ingredients are the basis for great skin.

What will you find in our soaps? Food-grade vegetable oils and butters.

  • Castor Oil: adds bubbles to soap, glossiness to lip balms
  • Avocado Butter: creamy, rich butter used in our lip balms and lotion sticks
  • Shea Butter: great for dry or mature skin, we use this in our bar soaps and lotion sticks
  • Olive Oil: the main base oil for our soaps and very mild on skin, cleans without overdrying, high in Vitamin E
  • Coconut Oil: produces rich lather and hardens the bar of soap so it lasts longer
  • Meadowfoam Seed Oil: flower typically grown in the US and its stable nature allows it to stay on skin, contains over 98% long chain fatty acids

One ingredient you will not find in any of our bar soaps is palm oil. It is a personal choice and one we’ve decided does not align with our environmental values. While you will find palm derivatives in other products, we are actively researching ways to eliminate those while still offering products that are affordable for our customers.
